ようだ, みたいだ, らしい: read the clues behind a judgment
Separate inference, reported information, and typical qualities. These expressions cannot all be reduced to the single gloss ‘seems.’
Draw a conclusion from a situation
部屋が暗いので、誰もいないようです。 infers that nobody is there from the dark room. Keep this judgment separate from a confirmed fact.
みたい is common in conversation, as in 誰もいないみたいです。 With nouns, compare the different connections: 休みのようだ and 休みみたいだ.
Use reports or other available information
駅前に新しい店ができたらしいです。 can relay information about a new shop or present a judgment based on information the speaker has gathered. Context identifies the source.
Do not restrict らしい to hearsay alone. ようだ is not limited to visible evidence either, so the information source alone does not mechanically determine the choice.
Recognize らしい for a typical quality
今日は春らしい暖かさです。 describes warmth typical of spring. It is not reporting a rumor about spring or expressing uncertainty about the season.
Read 学生らしい生活 and 学生らしいです in context too. Check whether the meaning is student-like qualities or a judgment that someone is a student.
Quick check: What does らしい mainly mean in 春らしい天気ですね?
Show the answer and why
It describes weather characteristic of spring. In this context, it does not simply mean that someone heard it was spring.
