About the learning data

Kotomoa is a learning service where you can explore the meanings, on’yomi and kun’yomi readings, stroke order, and related words for all 2,136 Japanese jōyō kanji, along with Japanese vocabulary and grammar.

Kotomoa writes and cross-reviews the kanji meanings, on’yomi and kun’yomi readings, study-reference levels, as well as word spellings, readings, meanings, study-reference levels, example sentences, and translations without using external dictionaries or corpora as inputs. The external source materials and licenses used for the jōyō kanji set, radicals, and stroke order are listed under Data Sources.

The N1–N5 labels are Kotomoa’s own study-reference classifications, not an official JLPT test-content list.

Writing, review, and corrections

Kotomoa uses AI tools to draft and translate learning content, followed by review against the source material. This does not guarantee that every explanation is complete or error-free.

If you find an error in a spelling, reading, meaning, or explanation, select Typo in Contact and include the page address and expression. Reports are reviewed before corrections are made.
