わけではない: reject a conclusion without denying everything
Correct an assumption or an overgeneralization. Identify exactly what is denied and what remains unstated.
Reject a possible misunderstanding
日本語が嫌いなわけではありません。 denies that you dislike Japanese. It can correct someone who assumes dislike is why you are not studying.
This does not go as far as claiming that you love Japanese. Separate the rejected explanation from the real reason, which may still be unstated.
Watch the scope of all and every
全部分かるわけではありません。 means you do not understand everything. It differs from 全然分かりません, which says you do not understand at all.
毎日忙しいわけではありません。 likewise denies being busy every day. Mark scope-setting expressions such as 全部 and 毎日 as you read.
Connect the form and add a clarification
Use 行くわけではない and 高いわけではない with verbs and i-adjectives, and 簡単なわけではない with a na-adjective. Preserve the precise scope in translation.
難しいわけではありませんが、時間がかかります。 explains that the task is not difficult but takes time. The following clause can identify the actual issue.
