所属 and 配属: affiliation and departmental assignment
Compare being affiliated with an organization with being assigned to a department. Keep a future placement decision separate from the start of its handover.
An affiliation relationship
所属 (しょぞく) means affiliation or membership. requests the name of the applicant's department. The requested information identifies where the person is affiliated.
says he is not affiliated with any organization. 所属 is not restricted to an employment relationship with a department.
An assignment and its timing
配属 (はいぞく) means assignment or placement. reports assigning the new employee to the desired department. The emphasis is assigning a person to that unit.
states that next month's placement was decided and the handover began. Keep the future assignment decision separate from the begun handover rather than adding that work there has already started.
A state and an assigning action
所属 emphasizes a relationship or state of affiliation. 配属 emphasizes assigning someone to a particular department or deciding that assignment. Both perspectives can occur when an assignment establishes an affiliation.
Compare having no affiliation with any group and having been assigned to a desired department. Departmental assignment alone does not additionally establish a change of employer or a physical relocation.
Show the answer and why
The first describes a state of having no organizational affiliation. The second reports assignment to the desired department. Read the affiliation relationship separately from the assigning action.
