求人 and 求職: job openings and seeking work
Compare a vacancy notice or job listings with a job seeker's checking and consultation activities. Separate the information from the activity of looking for work.
Opportunities and job information
求人 (きゅうじん) concerns recruitment or job openings. 「店の入口に求人の案内が貼られていた。」 states that a vacancy notice was posted at the store entrance. The notice's information does not establish that someone was hired.
「求人情報を比較して応募先を決めた。」 says job listings were compared and a place to apply was chosen. Choosing where to apply does not complete an application or establish a hiring result.
A job seeker's checking and consultation
求職 (きゅうしょく) means seeking employment. 「求職中の兄は毎朝求人情報を確認している。」 describes an older brother seeking work and checking listings every morning. 求職中 identifies his ongoing activity.
「市の窓口で求職の相談を受け付けている。」 says the city service desk accepts consultations about seeking work. Job seekers can consult the desk about their search for work.
Information and the person seeking work
求人情報 is information about job opportunities, while 求職 is the activity of looking for work. One sentence can describe a job seeker checking recruitment information, with each expression supplying a different part of the relationship.
Comparing listings or consulting the desk does not state a hiring result. Separate the information provider from the person using that information to seek work.
