好調 and 不振: form, sales trends, and the scope of a cause

Compare a pitcher's practice form and strong sales with analyzed poor sales and a stated practice-related seasonal slump.

好調: practice form and sales since opening

好調 (こうちょう) means in good form or favorable. 「練習では投手が好調な仕上がりを見せた。」 means “The pitcher looked in good form during practice.” The pitcher looked in good form during practice; a match victory is not supplied.

「新しい店は開店以来、売り上げが好調だ。」 means “Sales at the new store have been strong since it opened.” Strong sales extend from the new store's opening.

不振: cause analysis and insufficient practice

不振 (ふしん) means poor performance or slump. 「売上不振の原因を会議で分析した。」 means “We analyzed the cause of poor sales at the meeting.” The cause of poor sales was analyzed at the meeting; the result of that analysis is not supplied.

「練習不足で今季は成績が不振だった。」 means “Lack of practice led to poor results this season.” Insufficient practice is the stated cause of poor results in this season.

Read evaluated objects and individual causes

The evaluated objects differ: the pitcher, store sales, and seasonal results.

The season's stated cause does not explain every slump, and analyzing sales does not establish completed recovery.

Does analyzing sales 不振 establish that its cause was found and sales recovered?

Show the answer and why

No. Only the meeting's analysis is reported. Insufficient practice is a stated cause in the separate seasonal-results example.
