看護 and 介護: practice, care, support and consultation

Compare nursing practice and family care with the need for caregiving support and a professional consultation. Read the actions and their overlap without assigning exclusive workplaces or qualifications to 看護 and 介護.

A student's practice and the family's nursing

「看護を学ぶ学生が病院で実習した。」 (A nursing student completed practical training at the hospital.)

Another example uses 看護 for family members taking turns caring for their grandfather. Hospital training and family care are separate scenes; completing practical training does not itself establish a professional qualification.

A support system and a consultation

「家族だけで介護を抱え込まない仕組みが必要だ。」 (We need a system that does not leave caregiving entirely to family members.)

The other 介護 example reports consulting a professional about the grandmother's care. A needed system and a consultation are not reports that support has already been delivered.

Read the roles alongside the actions

Family members perform 看護, and a professional is consulted about 介護. These examples do not divide nursing exclusively among professionals and caregiving exclusively among family members.

Practice, taking turns providing care, needing a system and consulting someone describe different actions or states. None of the examples reports the grandfather's or grandmother's recovery.

Must 看護 be performed only by hospital professionals and 介護 only by family members?

Show the answer and why

No. The family provided 看護 for the grandfather, and a professional was consulted about the grandmother's 介護. The activities overlap, so read the role and action in each scene.
