School Announcements and Delivery to Members

Compare a festival broadcast and a school announcement with a lecture video for members and a notice sent to subscribers. Follow the content, intended audience, and future or past action.

A program broadcast and a school announcement

— “A program introducing the local festival was broadcast.” The content broadcast was a program introducing the local festival.

— “The gathering time was announced over the school public-address system.” The gathering time was announced over the school public-address system. This example also uses 放送, so the word is not restricted here to television programs.

A video for members and a notice for subscribers

配信 (はいしん) means content delivery or streaming. — “The lecture video will be streamed to members.” The English quotation presents streaming the lecture video to members as a future action; it does not report a completed release to the general public.

— “The store sent its closure notice to subscribers.” The store sent a closure notice to subscribers. The delivered content is a notice, rather than a video. Sending it does not establish that every subscriber read it or that the store shut down permanently.

Read the content and recipient together

The 放送 examples concern a program and a school announcement. The 配信 examples concern a lecture video and a closure notice. The content is not divided into video for one word and announcements for the other.

会員向け and 登録者に identify the targeted recipients. Keep streaming to members and sending a notice to subscribers within those scopes, without expanding them into a general release or completed viewing by everyone. Also distinguish the future streaming statement from the past sending action.

say that the video has already been released to the entire general public?

Show the answer and why

No. The video is intended for delivery to members, and the English example says it will be streamed. The subscriber notice likewise has its own content and recipients. Neither sentence adds a result in which everyone has watched or read what was delivered.
