付属 and 添付: an included component and material added to a document

Compare instructions included with a device with attaching a copy to an application. Read the inclusion relation and the added material without limiting either to physical gluing.

Read an included component

付属, read ふぞく, means included or affiliated. 付属の説明書を読んでから装置を組み立てた。 says that someone read the included instructions and then assembled the device.

Read the instructions' inclusion relation and the reading-before-assembly order. This example does not establish identical included instructions for every product.

Add supporting material through 添付

添付, read てんぷ, means attachment. 申込書に身分証の写しを添付した。 says that a copy of identification was attached to the application.

写し specifies a copy rather than the original. Completed attachment does not establish application submission or a mandatory step for another application.

Another affiliation and an email attachment

大学付属の病院で詳しい検査を受けた。 says that someone received a detailed examination at the hospital affiliated with the university. Here 付属 is an affiliation relation rather than physical attachment.

メールに添付された資料を開いた。 says that someone opened the materials attached to the email. Preserve the attached-material description and completed opening without limiting 添付 to gluing.

What relations differ between 付属の説明書 and 申込書に写しを添付した?

Show the answer and why
