挑戦 and 挑む: forms of challenge and unreported achievement
Compare competition commitments and an expedition's goal with the stated change to a work from a technique attempt.
挑戦: a race commitment and a change to a work
挑戦 (ちょうせん) means challenge or attempt. 「今年は初めて長距離の水泳大会に挑戦します。」 means “This year, I am taking on a long-distance swimming race for the first time.” The first long-distance swimming race is a commitment for this year; no placing is given.
「新しい技法への挑戦が作品に変化を与えた。」 means “The attempt to use a new technique changed the work.” The technique attempt is explicitly said to have changed the work.
挑む: a first tournament and a summit goal
挑む (いどむ) means to challenge or to confront. 「新人選手が初めて全国大会に挑む。」 means “The rookie athlete will compete in the national tournament for the first time.” The rookie will face a first national tournament, without a winning result.
「調査隊は厳しい自然に挑みながら頂上を目指した。」 means “The expedition headed for the summit while confronting harsh natural conditions.” The expedition headed for the summit while confronting harsh conditions; arrival is unreported.

Show the answer and why
No. The action and goal are reported, without arrival. The separate technique 挑戦 example does explicitly report a change to the work.
