Mansions and land in models or plans

Compare overlapping mansion and estate names in story settings and a museum with residential land represented by model houses or planned housing lots.

Mansion names and residential land

屋敷 (やしき) and 邸宅 (ていたく) both have the meanings mansion or estate here. 宅地 (たくち) means residential land or a housing lot and appears in a model and a plan. Distinguish the mansion from the land without dividing the two mansion names by size or the owner’s status.

describes an old mansion surrounded by forest as the story’s setting. describes a pond and a stone bridge in the estate’s large garden. 広い modifies the garden; it does not establish a fixed size boundary between the mansion names.

A museum, a story setting, and model houses

describes the old mansion on the hill as open as a museum. describes the mystery novel’s setting as an estate surrounded by forest. 屋敷 and 邸宅 thus overlap in naming a mansion used as a story setting.

means “I arranged small houses in the residential area of the model.” The houses were arranged in the model’s 宅地 area. This action does not establish that houses were built on actual land.

Housing lots shown in a plan

means “I made a plan showing the former factory site as housing lots.” The completed object is the plan, with the former factory site represented as 宅地. Completed land conversion or residential development is not stated.

屋敷 and 邸宅 name the mansion or estate in a story or a museum use; 宅地 names land for houses. Keeping the model and plan contexts preserves the difference between a mansion’s existence or use and a representation of residential land. The names do not add legal classifications or public-access policies.

What do 屋敷 and 邸宅 name, compared with the 宅地 area containing model houses?

Show the answer and why

屋敷 and 邸宅 are overlapping names for a mansion or estate. 宅地 names residential land or housing lots. Arranging houses in the model does not establish actual development, and the mansion names are not divided by size or the owner’s status.
