A benefit and relief from a burden
Compare a commemorative-gift benefit with tuition or exercise exemptions. Distinguish receiving an added benefit from being relieved of a particular cost or activity.
An added benefit
特典 means a benefit or privilege. presents a benefit allowing participants to receive a commemorative gift. It does not report a past completed collection.
says admission is half price as a members-only benefit. The examples include both a gift benefit and a price benefit.
Exemption from a particular burden
免除 means an exemption or waiver. makes tuition exemption conditional on meeting academic requirements. It does not say everyone’s tuition has already been waived.
reports exemption from strenuous exercise because of a doctor’s diagnosis. The exemption concerns that activity, rather than every activity.
Identify the benefit or burden
The gift-related 特典 concerns an added benefit that participants can receive. The exercise-related 免除 concerns relief from a particular activity. Their targets clarify their different functions.
特典 is not limited to discounts, and 免除 is not limited to money. The academic condition and diagnosis belong to the stated sentences; they do not provide general eligibility rules or exemption procedures.
How do 特典 allowing receipt of a commemorative gift and 免除 from strenuous exercise because of a diagnosis differ?
Show the answer and why
特典 concerns an added benefit available to participants, while 免除 concerns relief from a specified activity. Separate the gift benefit from the exercise burden removed.
