提出 and 提示: submitting a document or showing it for inspection
Distinguish submitting an application from presenting identification, without reading a request to show something as a request to leave it behind.
Submitting documents or work
提出, read ていしゅつ, means submitting documents or work to another party. means that the application form was submitted at the counter.
asks for a report to be submitted online. 提出 is not limited to handing over paper in person.
Showing something so it can be checked
提示, read ていじ, means presenting or showing something. says that a ticket was shown at the entrance.
asks someone to show identification at reception. It does not by itself require leaving the identification there.
The same item in different procedures
says that a document was shown so its contents could be checked. Presentation for inspection may be distinct from formal submission.
asks someone to check whether showing the item is sufficient or a copy must be submitted. Follow the specific instructions.
necessarily mean leaving identification at the reception desk?
Show the answer and why
