単位 and 基準: units for quantities and criteria for judgment
Compare boxes, item counts, and length units with evaluation criteria, keeping units attached to the numbers you read.
A unit for expressing an amount
単位, read たんい, means a unit used to count or express quantity. says that lengths in this table are measured in centimeters.
says that each box contains ten items and three boxes were ordered. Separating boxes from individual items gives thirty items ordered.
A criterion for judgment or comparison
基準, read きじゅん, means a criterion for judgment or comparison. says that the marking criteria were explained.
says that the product meets the criteria. Earlier explanation or relevant information identifies which criteria apply.
The same number under different standards
asks someone not to compare bare numbers without checking units. Values expressed in different units are not automatically equal quantities.
says that the criteria changed, so the same score receives a different evaluation. Check the unit of the number and the evaluation rule separately.
