尊敬 and 尊重: admiring someone and respecting opinions or wishes
Compare admiration for a person's conduct with consideration for opinions and wishes. Distinguish wanting to value one's own ideas, a proposal to show respect, and a completed schedule change.
An admired person and one's own ideas
尊敬(そんけい) means respect or admiration. describes respect for a teacher who earnestly confronts difficulties, giving the conduct behind the admiration.
expresses a wish not merely to imitate an admired person but also to value one's own ideas. It does not say that admiration is absent.
Considering opinions and wishes
proposes respecting each other's opinions during a discussion; it does not report agreement with every opinion.
says that the schedule was changed to respect the person's wishes. This example states an actual change, unlike the preceding proposal.
The meanings can overlap
Both words can be translated as respect. The examples compare admiration for someone's conduct with consideration expressed toward opinions or wishes. They do not restrict 尊敬 exclusively to people or 尊重 exclusively to opinions.
Admiring someone does not require accepting every opinion they hold. Read whether the sentence expresses a proposal, a wish, or an actual change to keep the attitude and its stated outcome distinct.
state an actual schedule change?
Show the answer and why
Yes. It reports changing the schedule to respect the person's wishes. This differs from a proposal to respect opinions, without implying acceptance of every opinion.
