試験 and 検査: testing and inspection

Compare testing ability or performance with examining condition or compliance.

Testing ability or performance

試験 (しけん) means testing knowledge, ability, or performance. 「日本語の試験を受けました」 says that the speaker took a Japanese test.

「機械の性能試験を行いました」 means conducting a machine performance test. 試験 is not limited to school exams taken by people.

Examining condition or compliance

検査 (けんさ) means examining condition or conformity to a standard. 「製品を検査しました」 says that the product was inspected. A finding of no problems is a separate matter.

「検査を受ける」 presents undergoing an examination, while 「検査をする」 describes carrying it out. Context identifies whether the subject examined is a person or an object.

Not distinguished by equipment alone

A machine-based measurement can be a 試験 of ability or a 検査 of condition. Do not distinguish them merely by whether paper questions are involved; consider the assessment's purpose.

「結果はまだ出ていません」 means the results are not available yet. Completing a test or inspection does not itself establish passing or normal condition.

Does 「検査しました」 mean a normal condition was confirmed?

Show the answer and why

No. It states that an inspection took place, without giving the result.
