性格 and 人柄: traits, character and reactions to warmth

Compare a cheerful personality, character appearing in unguarded actions and people drawn to warmth. Preserve overlapping meanings without treating 人柄 as an automatically positive judgment.

A cheerful person who readily starts conversations

「妹は明るい性格で、初対面の人ともすぐ話せる。」 (My younger sister is cheerful and easily strikes up conversations with people she has just met.)

The cheerful 性格 is linked with readily speaking to people just met. Easily starting a conversation does not itself establish a close relationship with every unfamiliar person.

Character revealed in actions and evaluated as warm

「何気ない行動にその人の人柄が表れる。」 (A person's character appears in unguarded actions.)

「彼女の温かな人柄に多くの人が引かれた。」 (Many people were drawn to her warm personality.) The first sentence says character appears in actions; the second adds warmth and the response of people drawn to it.

Read the trait and the evaluation in context

性格 and 人柄 have overlapping personality and character meanings. Read the cheerful trait, the appearance of character in actions and the response to warmth in their respective scenes.

The examples do not establish that 性格 means only inborn traits or that 人柄 is always favorable. The first 人柄 sentence describes character appearing without itself labeling that character good.

Does 人柄 always establish that someone is a good person?

Show the answer and why

No. The first example says character appears in unguarded actions. The other example specifically describes a warm personality and people's attraction to it; that favorable evaluation belongs to that scene.
