Activity or Usage History and a Resume

Compare an applicant's activity history and a device usage log with mailing a resume and rewriting its employment-history section. Distinguish the recorded content, document, and delivery stage.

An applicant's history and a device's usage log

履歴 (りれき) means history or a usage log. — “We listed the applicant's activity history.” The content listed is the applicant's activity history.

— “We reviewed the usage log left on the device for class.” The reviewed record is the usage log left on a device, for class. Do not change that object into a person's employment history.

Mailing a resume and rewriting one section

— “I mailed my resume to the organization where I was applying.” The action is mailing it to the organization applied to. Neither receipt by that organization nor completed hiring is reported.

— “I carefully rewrote the employment history section of my resume.” The rewritten part is the 職歴欄, the employment-history section. Rewriting that section does not report creating the whole document or gaining new work experience.

Recorded content and the application document

履歴 can concern a person's activities or a device's usage. 履歴書 is a resume used as an application document, so a usage log and employment paperwork are different referents.

Mailing and rewriting belong to separate examples. Distinguish the reviewed or edited content from where the document was sent, without adding receipt or selection to the mailing event.

Does mailing a 履歴書 to an organization report that the organization received it?

Show the answer and why

No. 郵送した reports mailing, without receipt or a hiring outcome. The separate 使用履歴 on a device also differs from a person's employment history.
