奥 and 底: deep inside and at the bottom of a container

Separate the back of a drawer from the bottom of a box, reading 奥 and 底 as different location references.

Farther in from an entrance or front

奥, read おく, names a part farther in from the entrance or front. says that a key was deep inside the drawer.

says that an employee came out from the back of the shop. 奥 does not necessarily identify a lower floor.

The bottom part of a container

底, read そこ, names a container’s bottom. says that paper was laid on the bottom of the box.

says that the bottle has a small scratch on its bottom. It identifies a part of the bottle rather than a distant location.

Combining depth and bottom position

says that there was a coin at the bottom toward the back of a storage box. 奥 and 底 contribute different directional information.

says that someone reached far into the drawer. It does not state contact with the bottom as 底に触れました would.

establish that the item touches the drawer’s bottom?

Show the answer and why

No. 奥 gives a position farther in from the front or opening. Contact with the bottom needs separate information.
