明確 and 正確: clear meaning and accurate information
Compare clear purposes or instructions with accurate addresses or timekeeping, separating ease of understanding from factual or referential accuracy.
A clear purpose and explanation
「質問の目的を明確にしてから調査を始めました。」 describes clarifying the purpose of the questions before beginning the survey. The purpose is what was made clear first.
「説明が明確だったので、迷わず作業できました。」 says that a clear explanation made work possible without hesitation. Preserve that relationship without adding that every task was completed.
Accuracy of an address or watch
「荷物が届くように住所を正確に入力してください。」 requests an accurately entered address so the package arrives. 正確 concerns the address information; the request does not establish completed entry or delivery.
「彼の時計は古いが、今でも驚くほど正確だ。」 evaluates an old watch as still surprisingly accurate. Retain both its age and accuracy without inventing an error value or measurement standard.
Clarity and accuracy are separate judgments
明確 evaluates whether meaning, purpose, or instructions are clear. 正確 evaluates whether information or a result matches its reference. A clearly expressed explanation can still leave the accuracy of its content to be checked separately.
The clear explanation in one example is not evidence that the address in another was accurate. Identify what is clear and what is supposed to be accurate.
What does 明確 evaluate in the explanation, and what does 正確 evaluate in the address-entry request? Does the first establish the second?
Show the answer and why
明確 identifies clear meaning or instructions, while 正確 concerns accurate address information. A clear explanation alone does not establish that an address was entered accurately. Read ease of understanding and accuracy as separate judgments.
