切符 and 乗車券: ticket names and usage scope
Distinguish an everyday word for a ticket from the name for a travel ticket.
Talking about a ticket
切符 (きっぷ) means ticket. 「駅で切符を買いました」 says a ticket was bought at the station.
「切符をなくしました」 reports losing a ticket. It alone does not identify its route or seat.
A ticket for travel
乗車券 (じょうしゃけん) means a ticket for riding a transport service. 「乗車券を見せてください」 asks to see the travel ticket.
「この乗車券は明日使います」 says this ticket will be used tomorrow. Purchase and use dates need not match.
Do not infer conditions from a name
切符 and 乗車券 can refer to the same ticket in context. The name alone does not establish seat reservation or inclusion of additional charges.
「有効期限を確認しました」 means checking the validity period. Read the specific ticket's stated conditions rather than deriving them from the noun alone.
Does the name 乗車券 alone establish a reserved seat?
Show the answer and why
No. Check the particular ticket's conditions for seat reservation and other details.
