住宅街 and 繁華街: residential and busy districts in context

Read 住宅街 and 繁華街 through a route, a late-night noise request, weekend foot traffic, and a nearby residential area, keeping each example's scope clear.

住宅街 in a route and a request

「静かな住宅街を抜けると駅に着く。」 uses a conditional, nonpast expression: passing through the quiet residential neighborhood leads to the station. Its English translation is the imperative “Pass through the quiet residential neighborhood to reach the station.” Keep that imperative alongside the Japanese and Korean conditional wording; none says that arrival has already occurred.

「住宅街では夜遅くに大きな音を出さないでください。」 requests that loud noises not be made late at night in a residential area. 住宅街 names the place, and 夜遅くに limits the time. The sentence supplies no actual local law or numerical noise limit.

繁華街 in weekend traffic and surrounding areas

「週末の繁華街は夜遅くまで人通りが多い。」 is translated as “The entertainment district remains crowded late into weekend nights.” 週末 and 夜遅くまで bound the description in time. Entertainment district is the wording of this example's translation, rather than a fixed category imposed on every 繁華街.

「繁華街を少し離れると、静かな住宅地が広がる。」 describes a quiet residential neighborhood just outside the busy district. Its English translation uses downtown for 繁華街 in this context. That wording does not define every 繁華街 as the geographic city center.

Distinguish district names from contextual traits

住宅街 names a residential neighborhood; 繁華街 names a busy district. Quietness belongs to the residential example, while heavy foot traffic is stated for weekend nights in the busy district. These are not universal claims that every residential area is quiet or every busy district is always crowded.

The residential neighborhood outside the busy district is a surrounding area described in one sentence. It does not fix the layout of these districts everywhere. A district's character and a geographic city-center location are different criteria.

What districts do 住宅街 and 繁華街 name, and can 繁華街 always be read as the same location as 都心?

Show the answer and why

住宅街 names a residential neighborhood and 繁華街 a busy district. The busy district's character does not establish a geographic city-center location, so it cannot always be equated with 都心. Quietness, weekend traffic, and the noise request stay within their examples, and the route expression does not report completed arrival.
