日付 and 日時: dates and date-and-time information

Distinguish the information requested on forms and in event notices.

A calendar date

日付 (ひづけ) means a date. 「申込書に日付を書きます」 means writing the date on an application form.

「日付が間違っています」 says the date is wrong. Do not expand it to claim that the time or place is also wrong.

Date and time together

日時 (にちじ) refers to date and time. 「面接の日時を確認しました」 says the speaker checked the interview's date and time.

「開催日時はまだ決まっていません」 says the event's date and time have not yet been set. It does not mean the event was canceled.

Providing all requested information

「日付は同じですが、時刻が変わりました」 says the date is unchanged but the time has changed. A schedule change does not always change the date.

「日時と場所を教えてください」 requests the date, time, and place. The place is not itself included in 日時.

Is giving only a date enough to answer 「日時と場所を教えてください」?

Show the answer and why

No. The request also asks for the time and place, so include those details.
