春 and 秋: spring and autumn in schedules

Attach season names to events and distinguish their time ranges.

Spring plans

春 (はる) means spring. 「春に引っ越します」 schedules a move for spring.

「春休みに旅行しました」 says the speaker traveled during spring break. 春休み is read はるやすみ and is not the whole spring season.

Autumn plans

秋 (あき) means autumn. 「秋に展覧会を開きます」 plans an exhibition in autumn.

「秋の初めに会いました」 places a meeting in early autumn. 初め narrows the period within the season.

Duration and contrast

「春から秋まで働きました」 means working from spring through to autumn. It does not give exact starting or ending dates.

「春ではなく、秋に植えました」 places the planting in autumn, not spring. It does not report planting in both seasons.

Is 「春休み」 the same period as the whole spring season?

Show the answer and why

No. It is a specific spring-break period, distinct from the entire season.
