A Nest Discovered and a Container Invented

Compare a nest discovered and a finding shared with a container that can be opened with one hand and tools addressing everyday inconveniences. Follow finding and creating without adding first-ever, patent, or sales claims.

A nest found and a finding shared

— “I discovered a small bird's nest in a corner of the garden.” An existing nest was discovered in a corner of the garden. Finding it does not mean that the person who discovered it created the nest.

— “I shared the new finding with my research colleagues.” A new finding was shared with research colleagues. New modifies the finding in this example, without guaranteeing a first-ever discovery or recognition by the entire research community. The sentence does not identify that finding as the nest from the other example.

A container's capability and tools invented

— “She invented a container that can be opened with one hand.” She invented a container that can be opened with one hand. 片手で開けられる states a capability, without an additional report that the container was actually opened or commercially released.

— “The children invented tools to solve everyday inconveniences.” The children invented tools to address everyday inconveniences. Follow the designed objects and their purpose, without adding a patent, sales, widespread adoption, or a claim that every inconvenience was solved.

Compare an existing object found with an object devised

The nest's 発見 concerns finding an existing object; the container's 発明 concerns devising an object with a stated capability. Sharing a finding and inventing tools likewise have their own stated subjects and actions.

The words discovery and invention do not themselves establish world-first status or ownership rights. The person finding a nest, research colleagues, the woman inventing a container, and the children inventing tools occur in different examples, rather than one stated development process.

How do 発見 of the garden nest and 発明 of a container that can be opened with one hand differ?

Show the answer and why

The first finds an existing nest; the second devises a container that can be opened with one hand. Distinguish the object found from the object invented, without adding a first-ever claim, patent, commercial release, or sales result absent from the examples.
