配達 and 配送: delivery to a recipient and shipping arrangements
Read delivery times and shipping preparation, allowing overlap between the words while separating arrangements from arrival.
Bringing items to the receiving location
配達, read はいたつ, means delivering items to a receiving location. says that newspapers are delivered every morning.
asks for the preferred delivery time. It focuses on when the recipient receives the delivery.
Sending and transporting goods
配送, read はいそう, means sending and transporting goods. says that the shop arranged shipment of the goods.
asks someone to check the delivery address. 配送先 identifies the destination for the goods, not the sending shop's address.
Overlapping meanings and progress
Both 配達 and 配送 can be used for the same parcel delivery. Do not make an absolute rule that 配送 is always long-distance and 配達 always local.
says that shipping arrangements are complete, but the item has not arrived yet. Arranging transport and actual arrival are separate.
Is 配送先の住所 the address of the shop sending the goods?
Show the answer and why
No. It is the destination address for the goods. Check shipping arrangements and arrival separately through status expressions.
