群集, 生態 and 生態系: communities, behavior and ecosystems

Compare 群集, 生態 and 生態系 in tidal-flat, forest and wetland examples. Identify the community, behavior or ecology, and ecosystem being studied or protected.

群集 as an observable or studied community

means “Communities of diverse organisms can be observed on the tidal flat.” 観察できる expresses what can be observed, not a completed investigation.

means “The researcher studied the plant community growing in the forest.” This reports a researcher studying a plant community. The plant object also prevents an animals-only reading of 群集.

生態 as behavior or ecology

生態 (せいたい) means ecology or behavior. means “The research team studied the behavior of animals living in the forest.” The subject studied is the behavior of animals living in the forest.

means “The exhibit introduces the mysterious ecology of deep-sea fish.” The exhibit introduces deep-sea fish ecology. Neither use changes 生態 into a numerical count of organisms or a measurement of habitat area.

生態系 as an ecosystem to protect

means “I participated in an effort to protect the wetland ecosystem.” It reports participation in an effort, without reporting that ecosystem protection succeeded.

means “One change can affect an entire ecosystem.” The possibility of an effect on the whole ecosystem does not establish a certain result of every change or supply particular damage or policy judgments.

What is the focus of the objects in 植物の群集, 動物の生態 and 湿地の生態系?

Show the answer and why

They name a plant community, animal behavior or ecology, and a wetland ecosystem respectively. Do not merge them into a group of same-species animals or an organism count. The tidal-flat community being observable also differs from the reported past study of a forest plant community.
