双子 and 性格: similar faces, different tastes and personalities

Read twins who look alike but like different music alongside twins with different personalities. Distinguish the twin relationship, appearance, tastes and personality without merging separate scenes.

双子 identifies twins

双子 (ふたご) means twins. In “あの双子は顔が似ているが、好きな音楽は違う。” (“Those twins look alike, but they like different music.”), the twins look alike but like different music. Preserve both 似ている and 違う so that the resemblance and the contrast in taste remain together.

In “姉に双子の赤ちゃんが生まれた。” (“My sister gave birth to twins.”), the speaker's sister gave birth to twins. This reports the birth of twins; it does not identify them as the twins in the separate music example.

性格 describes personality

性格 (せいかく) means personality or character. In “妹は明るい性格で、初対面の人ともすぐ話せる。” (“My younger sister is cheerful and easily strikes up conversations with people she has just met.”), the younger sister is cheerful and can readily talk with people she has just met. The scene links that personality description with her ability to start conversations.

In “双子でも二人の性格は驚くほど違う。” (“Although twins, their personalities are remarkably different.”), the two people's personalities are remarkably different although they are twins. 双子でも introduces that contrast, rather than stating that twins have the same personality.

Do not equate appearance with personality

Similar faces describe appearance, while different music describes tastes. 性格 addresses personality as another aspect, so a resemblance in faces alone does not establish identical tastes or personalities.

The twins with different musical tastes, the newborn twins, and the twins with different personalities belong to their respective sentences. These examples do not identify them as one pair or establish a genetic type of twins.

Does a resemblance in the faces of 双子 establish the same taste in music and the same 性格?

Show the answer and why

No. One example contrasts similar faces with different musical tastes, and a separate sentence describes different personalities despite the twin relationship. Facial resemblance alone does not establish matching tastes or personalities.
