逐一: item-by-item reporting and minor-change records

Read the request for item-by-item progress reporting and the narrower statement that recording every minor change is unnecessary.

Identify what is covered individually

逐一 (ちくいち) means one by one or in detail. Here it concerns work progress to be reported and minor changes to be recorded, indicating the individual coverage of those objects.

Individual coverage supplies neither a fixed numbering system nor a required chronological order. Read the sentence ending as well: one sentence makes a request, while the other limits the need to record every minor change.

A reporting request and a statement of necessity

「作業の進み具合を逐一報告してください。」 (Please report the progress of the work item by item.) The requested report concerns the progress of the work. してください asks for that progress to be covered item by item; it does not say that the requested report was already given.

「細かな変更まで逐一記録する必要はない。」 (There is no need to record every minor change.) The unnecessary activity is recording even every minor change, expressed by 細かな変更まで. The sentence does not ban recording or say that all records are unnecessary.

Keep coverage and necessity together

The first sentence requests individual coverage of work progress. The second says there is no need to record every minor change. Each use of 逐一 specifies individual coverage, while the sentence ending gives the request or limits its necessity.

When reading 必要はない, check the activity whose necessity is denied. Here that scope is the individual recording of every minor change. No number of entries or required order is supplied.

Does the statement about 逐一 recording ban all records?

Show the answer and why

No. It says there is no need to record every minor change individually. It neither prohibits all recording nor declares all records unnecessary.
