病院 and 薬局: facilities and reasons for visiting

Read locations and visits involving hospitals and pharmacies without equating a visit with treatment or a purchase.

A hospital's location

says that someone waited for a friend in front of a hospital.

病院へ行きました alone does not establish that the visitor received treatment. A purpose can be given separately, such as お見舞いに for visiting someone who is ill.

An action at a pharmacy

says that a pharmacy is next to the station.

means collecting medicine at a pharmacy. The sentence specifies neither its type nor instructions for taking it.

Order and purpose

says that someone stopped at a pharmacy after visiting the hospital. 後で orders the two visits.

says that someone looked for a pharmacy but did not find one. Separate searching from its outcome.
