〜に言わせれば

in someone's view

Makes clear that an assessment comes from a particular person's perspective and experience.

Examples

経験豊かな職人に言わせれば、この作業はまだ基本だ。

In the view of an experienced craftsperson, this work is still basic.

母に言わせれば、朝食は大切だ。

In my mother's view, breakfast is important.

Structure: Attach に言わせれば to a person to introduce an assessment from that person's perspective. It consists of causative 言わせる, from 言う, plus conditional ば.
Basic usage: 経験豊かな職人に言わせれば、この作業はまだ基本だ。 assesses the task by an experienced craftsperson's standards.

Reporting speech versus presenting a viewpoint
- 母はこう言った reports what the mother actually said, whereas 母に言わせれば can present how she would assess the matter. It need not describe making her speak on a particular occasion.
