Examples

ここで秘密を漏らそうものなら、信頼をすべて失うだろう。

If you were to reveal the secret here, you would lose everyone's trust.

その機械を勝手に動かそうものなら、すぐ警報が鳴る。

If you were to operate that machine without permission, the alarm would go off immediately.

Structure: Attach ものなら to a volitional-form verb to warn of an adverse consequence if the action is taken.
Basic usage: ここで秘密を漏らそうものなら、信頼をすべて失うだろう。 imagines the serious consequence of revealing the secret.

A hypothesis built with the volitional
- 漏らそう is the volitional of 漏らす, but the whole phrase 漏らそうものなら introduces a warning hypothesis, not an invitation to reveal something together.
Distinguishing potential-form ものなら
- やれるものならやってみろ challenges whether someone can do something. 動かそうものなら focuses instead on the consequence of taking the action.
