in response to

Introduces an action or result that meets a request or lives up to an expectation.

Structure: Attach に応えて to a noun expressing a request or expectation; 応えて is read こたえて.

応える versus 答える
- 期待に応える means acting or performing in a way that meets expectations, while 質問に答える means answering a question. Both are read こたえる, but their spelling and role differ in these contexts.
