〜に劣らず

no less ... than · not inferior to

Indicates that an ability or quality is no lower than that of a strong comparison subject.

Examples

新人選手もベテランに劣らず、見事な活躍を見せた。

The rookie athlete performed just as brilliantly as the veterans.

彼女は経験者に劣らず、落ち着いていた。

She was no less composed than the experienced participants.

今年の新人も昨年の優勝者に劣らず強い。

This year's rookie is no less formidable than last year's champion.

Structure: に劣らず follows a comparison standard, says something is no lower than that standard, and links to the subsequent assessment.
Basic usage: 彼女は経験者に劣らず、落ち着いていた。 compares her composure as no less than that of experienced people.

Not limited to exact equality
- 優勝者に劣らず強い allows strength equal to or greater than the champion's.
Zu as a negative linking form
- 劣らず is a negative linking form corresponding to 劣らない. 経験者に劣る means being inferior to experienced people, so removing ず reverses the comparison.
