Follows a plain-form clause to give one of multiple reasons or characteristics while implying that further grounds also exist.

Examples

この食堂は値段が安いし、料理の量も多い。

This cafeteria has low prices, and the portions are large too.

この町は海が近いし、空気もきれいだ。

This town is close to the sea, and the air is clean too.

この靴は軽いし、歩きやすいです。

These shoes are light and easy to walk in.

Structure: A clause takes し to add a reason or characteristic.
Basic usage: この靴は軽いし、歩きやすいです。 presents lightness and ease of walking as combined advantages.

Adding facts and ordering events
- 軽いし、歩きやすい lists two characteristics. Connecting them with し does not establish that the first arose before the second.
A single し and attachment
- One reason can lead directly to a conclusion, as in 安いし、これにします. Nouns and na-adjectives retain だ, as in 学生だし and 静かだし.
