With certain verbs, indicates that an action has just finished and its result remains fresh.

Examples

焼きたてのパンは香りが豊かだ。

Freshly baked bread has a rich aroma.

できたてのスープを温かいうちに飲んだ。

I drank the freshly made soup while it was still warm.

採れたての野菜を市場で買いました。

I bought freshly harvested vegetables at the market.

Structure: With certain verbs, attach たて to the masu-stem, with ます removed, to indicate a freshly completed action whose result remains fresh.
Basic usage: 焼きたてのパンは香りが豊かだ。 describes the aroma of bread in its freshly baked state.

Not attached to the past form
- 焼きたて attaches to 焼き from 焼きます, not to 焼いた. Insert の before a noun, as in 焼きたてのパン.
Recent completion and a fresh result
- 焼いたばかりのパン also describes recently baked bread, while 焼きたてのパン highlights its freshly baked quality. Not every recent-completion phrase, such as 読んだばかりの本, can be converted into an equivalent たて expression.
