Structure: ものだから follows a circumstance and offers it as a personal explanation for the resulting situation.
Basic usage: 急な仕事が入ったものだから、連絡できませんでした。 explains that an urgent task prevented the speaker from making contact.

An explanation of one's circumstances
- 道が混んでいたので遅れた also states the cause of being late. 道が混んでいたものだから遅れた more strongly presents the speaker's circumstances for the listener to understand.
Connection and register
- Present affirmative nouns and na-adjectives connect with な, as in 初心者なものだから and 不安なものだから. The shortened もんだから is more conversational, so carrying it into a formal explanation changes the register.
