Expresses a determination to achieve a goal even by accepting means one would normally prefer to avoid.

Examples

徹夜してでも、この報告書を朝までに仕上げたい。

Even if it means staying up all night, I want to finish this report by morning.

事情を説明してでも、理解してもらいたい。

Even if it means explaining the circumstances, I want them to understand.

Structure: でも after a verb's te-form expresses determination to achieve a goal even through a burdensome means.
Basic usage: 徹夜してでも、この報告書を朝までに仕上げたい。 expresses willingness to stay up all night if necessary to finish the report.

A means to a goal versus a concessive condition
- 徹夜してでも終わらせる accepts staying up all night as a means of finishing. 徹夜しても終わらない says that even staying up will not bring completion, distinguishing the chosen means with てでも from the concessive condition with ても.
