Expresses a willingness to take even difficult action if an important condition or purpose calls for it.

Examples

命を救うためとあれば、危険な道にも踏み込む。

If it is to save a life, I will even venture down a dangerous path.

家族のためとあれば、遠くへも行く。

If it is for my family, I will travel any distance.

子どもの将来のためとあれば、どんな苦労も惜しまない。

If it is for my child's future, no hardship is too great.

Structure: Attach とあれば to an important condition or purpose to express willingness to take even difficult action if it applies.
Basic usage: 家族のためとあれば、遠くへも行く。 expresses willingness to make the effort of traveling far if it is for the family.

Roles of ため and the condition
- 家族のため expresses a purpose serving the family, and とあれば makes that purpose a condition. とあれば itself does not always translate as for the sake of.
Attitude beyond a simple condition
- 家族のためなら行く also states a condition. 家族のためとあれば行く more formally highlights the resolve to act willingly for that purpose.
